Bone Marrow Match

sought!

Please help to find a match for Dr. Ross's friend.

Please call or email Dr. Ross if you are willing to be tested.  Thank you!!

Dr. Ross's plea:

My dear friend and colleague I was sent the following email. I am circulating it in the hope that s donor might be found through networking.

Many thanks,

 Neil

 Letter to Dr. Ross:

I hope you read this tonight.  My friend, who has leukemia still hasn't found a bone marrow match.  She is the 37 year old mother with acute leukemia, and she needs a marrow transplant -- her genetic background is 1/2 Hispanic/1/2 Filipino.  That makes the probabilities difficult, and she has no siblings.  You said that you might circulate the need here, so that a match might be found.

Potential donors can do a cheek swab at any Red Cross office, and I think they don't need to pay the donor registration fee because there is such a shortage of donors-of-color, so they don't have to pay the registration fee.  This is really important as she has done as much chemotherapy as can safely be done, and a bone marrow transplant could be the difference on whether she will survive or not. She has two little girls, 3yrs and 5yrs, and they need their mom

Let me know if you contact anyone who is willing to be tested to be a donor.  Amy is going to get more information for me which I will pass on to you as soon as I get it. Thanks for anything you can do.
